Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is an iconic skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It stands at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street with a height of 1,454 feet (443.2 meters)

Building started in the early 1920s, as a race to build the tallest skyscraper in New York City emerged between competing real estate developers.
John J. Raskob, an executive of General Motors, teamed up with former New York Governor Al Smith to form the Empire State Corporation. They hired architect William F. Lamb of the architectural firm Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates to design the building.

Construction proceeded at a remarkable pace, with workers completing an average of four and a half stories per week, with the Construction of the Empire State Building completed in just over a year, officially opening on May 1, 1931.
President Herbert Hoover remotely turned on the building's lights from Washington, D.C., signalling its grand opening to the world.

Upon completion, the Empire State Building became the tallest building in the world, surpassing the previous record set by the Chrysler Building. It held this title for nearly 40 years until the completion of the North Tower of the World Trade Centre in 1970.

Over the years, the Empire State Building has undergone several renovations and modernization efforts to maintain its functionality, energy efficiency, and appeal.
These updates include the installation of a new entrance, lobby restoration, elevator modernization, and the introduction of advanced lighting systems.
