Vincent van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh, born on March 30, 1853, was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who is widely regarded as one of the most influential artists in the history of Western art.

Van Gogh produced an extensive body of work, including approximately 2,100 artworks, consisting of paintings, drawings, and sketches.

Van Gogh's subjects varied widely, ranging from landscapes, still life, and portraiture. He had a profound connection to nature, and many of his paintings depict scenes from the countryside, including fields of wheat, cypress trees, and starry nights.

Van Gogh employed intense and unconventional colour combinations within his artwork. His brushwork was energetic and dynamic, often applying paint thickly to create texture and movement.

Throughout his life, Van Gogh struggled with mental health issues, including depression and anxiety, which often influenced his work. He spent time in various institutions, seeking treatment for his condition. Despite his personal challenges, Van Gogh remained dedicated to his art, continually experimenting with new techniques and styles.

Although Van Gogh's work received little recognition during his lifetime, his paintings have become some of the most celebrated and valuable in the world. Notable masterpieces include "Starry Night", "Sunflowers," and his numerous self-portraits.
